Peyton Hillis is off the ventilator, according to his girlfriend.
Hillis, a former Arkansas standout, was hospitalized after rescuing his kids from drowning in Pensacola, Florida last week. He had to be taken to a hospital by helicopter. Hillis had been in intensive care, with doctors concerned about his lungs and kidneys.
Singer/actress Angela Cole, Hillis’ girlfriend, shared an encouraging update in a recent Instagram post. Cole shares that Hillis is off of the ventilator and on the road to recovery.
“A hero. ❤️. So proud of this man and so incredibly grateful for family and this incredible hospital,” Cole wrote in her caption of a video collage of the couple. “Peyton is off the ventilator and is on the road to recovery. Please continue to pray for he’s still got a ways ahead of him, but thank you for all of your prayers and love and support thus far. It truly makes all the difference. Today was a good day. ❤️??.”
Hillis played at Arkansas from 2004-07. After his time with the Hogs, he had a 7-season NFL career (2008-14), spending time with the Denver Broncos, Cleveland Browns, Kansas City Chiefs, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New York Giants.
