By the time Arkansas got up by 16 points midway through the second half, fans called the Hogs inside Amalie Arena as the rout was on.

A defensive struggle in the first half gave way to a 13-0 Arkansas run to begin the second half, and overall went on a 19-0 run over 3:41. Ultimately, the Razorbacks prevailed 79-67 over LSU in the quarterfinals of the SEC Tournament. By the time LSU trailed by 15 in the second half, the Tigers were shooting 24 percent from the field, and 11 percent from 3-point range.

Arkansas’ scoring barrage began when Chris Lykes scored 6 points in the last 22.7 seconds of the half and Arkansas led by 3 at halftime despite shooting just 7-for-29. The frustration for LSU was evident from Will Wade, who drew a technical foul in the first half. As Arkansas pulled away, it was JD Notae joined in on the fun, and added to the scoring flurry and ultimately finished with 19 points after he had 5 points in the first half.

Tari Eason led 3 LSU players in double figures with 15 points.

Lykes contributed 18 points and 3 steals off the bench. The Razorbacks will advance to meet Texas A&M on Saturday after the Aggies’ upset of Auburn earlier Friday.
