The coaching changes at Arkansas and Missouri have added some fun to future meetings in the Battle Line Rivalry. Former Mizzou head coach Barry Odom and offensive line coach Brad Davis are now on Sam Pittman’s UA staff. According to Hawg Sports, another Tigers staffer could be making the switch.

Pete Roulier reports that Missouri defensive quality control assistant and defensive back assistant Sam Carter is one of the top candidates to join Pittman’s staff as cornerbacks coach. Carter, a former Jim Thorpe Award finalist, graduated from TCU in 2014 and joined the Missouri staff in 2016 after failing to make it in the NFL. Odom was in his first season as Mizzou head coach in 2016.

Passing defense was a strong suit for Odom’s squad in 2019. While not all credit goes to the secondary, the Tigers allowed only 179.3 passing yards per game, second-best in the SEC.

So far, Pittman has filled the spots of receivers coach (Justin Stepp), offensive line coach (Davis) and defensive coordinator (Odom). JUCO head coach Rion Rhoades will reportedly be hired as linebackers coach.
