With Feleipe Franks now in training camp with the Atlanta Falcons, Arkansas will now have a QB1 for Year 2 of the Sam Pittman era. Pittman met with reporters on Thursday and discussed where his quarterbacks stand going into fall camp.

“I think there is a battle there,” Pittman told reporters, per Pig Trail Nation. “KJ Jefferson is one going into fall camp. Malik Hornsby is sitting there at two. (John Stephen Jones) is there to compete, but we have to figure out who our three is before we know who can compete for the two spot.”

Jefferson enters his third year with the program. He played in three games, making one start in 2019. Last season, his playing time increased to five games, including another start. Jefferson was 18-of-33 passing for 274 yards and 3 touchdowns in Arkansas’ 50-48 loss at Missouri. He also ran the ball 13 times for 32 yards and a touchdown in that game.

Hornsby enters 2021 as a redshirt freshman after appearing in one game last season. Jones, the grandson of Jerry Jones, is now a redshirt junior. He played in six games over the 2018 and ’19 seasons but did not make any appearances in 2020.
