Arkansas, coming off a surprising 9-win campaign a year ago, plays host to Cincinnati on Saturday in what is one of tWeek 1’s most intriguing matchups.

The Bearcats, off course, advanced to the College Football Playoff as the No. 4 seed a year ago before falling to Alabama in the semifinals.

During Wednesday’s SEC coaches teleconference, Pittman was asked about his plans for sophomore Malik Hornsby in 2022.

The 6-2, 186-pounder is a quarterback by trade but also a dynamic athlete who has frequently taken practice reps at wide receiver.

Hornsby appeared in 7 games a year ago for Arkansas, passing for 46 yards and rushing for 136. But he has yet to catch a pass in his college career.

“Are we advertising for Cincinnati?,” said Pittman when asked about Hornsby. “We certainly have used him out there all year and that’s obviously a possibility he plays out there.”

Another weapon in the receiving corps that Pittman will have at his disposal this year is Matt Landers.

The 6-5, 197-pound senior started his career at Georgia while Pittman was there as an assistant.

Landers ultimately transferred to Toledo and caught 20 passes for 514 yards and 5 touchdowns for the Rockets a year ago. And Pittman is excited to have him.

“I knew Matt when I was fortunate to be the OL coach at Georgia,” Pittman said. “Obviously had a lot of speed, talent, height. … Went to Toledo, found out he was in the portal, went after him. … He’s catching the ball really well, fast. I really like him. Can’t wait to see what he’s able to do on Saturday. We’re really fortunate he chose us and I think he’s going to have a really good year for us.”

Saturday’s game between the No. 19 (AP) Razorbacks and No. 23 Bearcats is set for 3:30 p.m. (ET) and will be televised by ESPN.

As of Wednesday, Arkansas is nearly a touchdown favorite in the game.
