The running ability of QB Feleipe Franks has not surprised Arkansas coach Sam Pittman.

“We knew he could run when we recruited him,” Pittman said on the SEC coaches media teleconference. “We had a lot of film from Florida, we just started using him more there, we needed to, to even up the numbers in the box. We knew he was a tough kid and an adequate runner.”

“He was a team captain during COVID without spring ball, that tells you something… he takes care of the football,.. leadership skills, we were very forunate that he transferred to Arkansas.”

Pittman also addressed the matchup this week with his defensive line against the Tennessee offensive line.

“I don’t know that a lot of teams stack up against their offensive line… running backs are tough runners, I’ve known Jim Chaney a long time, he’ll had it off 75 times if he can do it,” Pittman said.

Pittman also said it’s difficult to recruit against Tennessee in the western part of the Volunteer State, but that Arkansas has coaches assigned to that region on the Arkansas staff.

One of Arkansas’ playmakers is Treylon Burks, and Pittman shared how Arkansas plans to use him.

“I really like him, love him as a young man, wonderful wonderful hard working kid…. he wears a 5X glove, big wide out, we are trying to use him in a lot of different ways,” Pittman said.
