Arkansas coach Sam Pittman has been doing some great work for the Razorbacks on the recruiting trails since he was hired just before the Early Signing Period in December.

Now, the Hogs have some momentum when it comes to bringing players to Fayetteville, so it’s worth asking how Pittman has managed that.

During an appearance on “The Paul Finebaum Show” this week, Pittman revealed what he looks for in a potential Arkansas recruit (via 247Sports):

“He has to like the coach, but he needs to commit to the school,” Pittman said. “In our case, we try to sell the state and sell that we’re different. We have no pro teams here. We have Arkansas State, but we’re the Power 5 school, the SEC team, in the state. We’re trying to sell all that kind of stuff, but the bottom line is, we’re saying come play for the state of Arkansas — it’s just different.

“When they come to a basketball game, we hope they see a different (level of) passion from our fans.”

Arkansas’s 2020 recruiting class ended up at No. 30 nationally and No. 11 in the SEC, per 247Sports. Considering where things were when Pittman took over, it’s clear his recruiting pitch is working.
