Arkansas has added some new additions to its staff with the hirings of defensive coordinator Travis Williams and tight ends coach Morgan Turner.

Arkansas coach Sam Pittman introduced the pair at a press conference and spoke glowingly about each of them.

Pittman explained what drew him to Williams, who was most recently the defensive coordinator for UCF.

“It became what kind of man, what kind of recruiter? We need a recruiter at that position as well,” Pittman said. “Good man. One that understands that recruiting is work. I just heard so many great things about him from guys I knew.”

Pittman added that being able to complement the staff is vital in the hiring process.

“You try to go and try to find fits,” Pittman said. “Really what your needs are as head coach and what your needs are on your team. I just remember calling Hunter (Yuracheck) and I felt so good about it.”

In terms of Turner, who arrives from Stanford, Pittman was well-versed with his credentials and grew to admire his personality throughout the interview stage.

“With Morgan, I knew a lot of people that knew him.” Pittman said. “… His resume was, got a lot of guys in the league. So I knew that he would be a fine coach.”

Arkansas concludes the season with a matchup against Kansas in Liberty Bowl on Dec. 28 (5:30 p.m. ET/ESPN).
