As new Arkansas head coach Sam Pittman gets situated in his first SEC head coaching gig, he is faced with the tall task of bringing in a staff while hanging on to a recruiting class.

Two of the most important hires Pittman will make are his coordinators, and he already checked one off the list by bringing in former Missouri head coach Barry Odom as the defensive coordinator.

It seems as though Pittman is close to finding someone to call plays on offense as well, as he recently shared during a recent radio appearance on the “The Red Zone with JB” on 92.1 FM out of Arkansas.

“Final interviews lined up with (OC) candidates the next couple of days. Hope to finalize it quickly,” Pittman said on Monday.

As a longtime offensive line coach, Pittman has worked for several SEC programs and has an excellent reputation, so he likely has plenty of connections with capable offensive minds.

It is unclear which candidates are interviewing for the job, but it is an incredibly important decision as Arkansas’ offense was dreadful under Chad Morris in 2019.

As the early signing period approaches, Pittman will likely make this hire sooner rather than later.
