Sam Pittman was impressed with how the new Arkansas wide receivers showed chemistry with KJ Jefferson in the season-opening win over Western Carolina.
Pittman said the rules have changed in the summer so that players can work on their own.
“But I felt the trust,” Pittman said. “Those guys catch everything. And so, you know, what did we have the first (7) passes to different receivers…They’ve earned his trust.”
Pittman noted how the Razorbacks caught contested balls, especially Andrew Armstron and Isaac TeSlaaa.
“We need to get (Tyrone) Broden going,” Pittman said. “He only caught one pass. Man, how valuable is he as a gunner on the punt team and all those type things. But he came here to catch balls. We’ve got to get him going a little more, too.”
Then it was receiver Jaedon Wilson scoring the team’s first touchdown with a 65-yard reception from Jefferson on the first offensive drive of the game.
“I told him if you don’t want to come out don’t get tackled, and he sure didn’t,” Pittman said following the game. “I thought TeSlaa did a great job of blocking outside for him. But he showed some speed going down the sideline.”
