Sam Pittman shared on Friday that he had a conversation with Jalen Catalon about the star safety’s future at Arkansas.

Catalon missed the majority of this season with a shoulder injury.

“I think he’s leaning towards going into the portal, but I don’t believe that he has yet, or anything of that nature,” Pittman said. “From my conversation with him today, he was leaning towards going into the portal. I just think he wants a fresh start. I talked to him about, if he was going to leave here, if he wanted my advice, I would just declare for the NFL and give it that type of chance. But he had a different view on it, and whatever he wants to do we’ll be fine with it.”

He made 8 tackles in his only game this season, the opener against Cincinnati.

Catalon last season started in the Hogs’ first 6 games before another season-ending injury. He finished eighth on the team in total tackles (46) with 1.5 tackles for loss despite playing in only 6 games.
