Sam Pittman and Arkansas stood no chance against Auburn on Saturday night.

The Tigers got out to a hot start, and the Razorbacks could never get back in the game, losing their 7th game of the season 48-10.

Pittman and Arkansas were flying high after the win against Florida last week, and the Razorbacks’ head coach said he and his team felt good coming into the game.

“I thought we had a really good week of practice and preparation,” Pittman said in his postgame press conference. “I felt really good going into the game.”

But things quickly went down hill as Auburn jumped out to a 21-0 lead, and Pittman said his team lacked the resilience to mount a comeback.

“We hadn’t been in this situation before, but we were in it today, and we didn’t know how to respond,” Pittman said.

Pittman credited Auburn’s outstanding play, and he said it’s now time to go back and figure out what went wrong.

“Auburn played exceptional. We did not,” Pittman said. “They were ready to play. I felt like we were (ready) through the week. Had a good week of practice. But we got dominated today, and we’ve got to figure out why.”

The Razorbacks won’t be able to reach bowl eligibility now, but Pittman said his team is still playing to win as it takes on FIU and Missouri to close out the season.

“We are going to play to win,” Pittman said. “We want to beat FIU next week and we are going to keep doing what we can and give our kids the best chance to win.”

It’s fair to assume Pittman is on the hot seat after Saturday’s game, but the 4th year head coach said he’s not concerned about his standing at head coach.
