Sam Pittman has an important hire to make while wrapping up Arkansas’ 2024 recruiting class. After firing Dan Enos midseason, Pittman will be hiring a new offensive coordinator.

Pittman took questions from reporters following Arkansas’ 48-14 loss to Mizzou. He shared what boxes he will be looking to check with the next Razorback play-caller.

Enos was hired after Kendal Briles left Arkansas to join the staff at TCU. Pittman indicated he wants to get back to how Arkansas found success under Briles.

“You have to find a fit. You certainly want a guy that brings something special to the university,” Pittman said in his postgame press conference. “Whether that be what KB did in the past. Whether that be a combination of what Kendal did and some pro-style stuff.

“I think we need a guy who really wants to be here and understands Arkansas, but the number one thing is getting someone who knows how to run the football, because we have to run the football, in my opinion, to win and of all the problems we’ve had this year, in all honesty, it all stemmed, a bunch of it, because we can’t run the football.”

Kenny Guiton served as Arkansas’ interim OC after Enos’ dismissal. Pittman praised Guiton for his work in the interim. At the time of the press conference, Pittman had not spoken to Guiton about potentially returning as wide receivers coach next season.
