The Arkansas Razorbacks found their new defensive coordinator this week, and it’s former Mizzou head coach Barry Odom.

Arkansas coach Sam Pittman is really excited about the hire, and he said as much during the Razorbacks’ basketball game against Tulsa on Saturday.

Pittman said Odom actually tried to hire him at Mizzou a while back (via 247Sports):

“Barry and I have been great friends for almost 20 years now,” Pittman said. “To be honest with you, he tried to hire me when he was at Missouri. We’ve known each other forever — what a great guy. Great coach. Missouri went on probation and nobody left his team. So that tells you a lot about who he is. Wonderful mind, great family, home run — home run. That guy is incredible.”

The Arkansas defense has been a mess the past couple of years. Meanwhile, Odom did some solid work with the Tigers’ defense.

Can he translate that success to Fayetteville?
