Great news for Arkansas’ depth on Monday as T.J. Hammonds has announced he’s back on the team.

This news comes after Chad Morris announced that Hammonds was not currently with the team during spring camp. That led many to believe Hammonds’ time in Fayetteville had officially come to an end following an injury-plagued junior season but that turned out not to be the case.

Hammonds appeared in only four games last season for the Razorbacks after appearing in 12 games his sophomore season. Hammonds has displayed big-play potential for the Razorbacks and his loss was clearly felt on the offensive side of the ball last season in Fayetteville. During his college career, the Little Rock native has registered 526 total yards from scrimmage and four touchdowns for the Razorbacks.

On Monday, Hammonds shared the following news on Twitter:

While he’s unlikely to start as a senior, Hammonds should contribute in both the running and passing game for the Razorbacks next season and his return adds quality depth to the team’s running back room with healthy versions of Rakeem Boyd, Devwah Whaley and Chase Hayden to suddenly turn the room into one of the deepest in the SEC West. Hammonds could also serve on special teams as a retuner for the Razorbacks.
