As we’ve seen throughout the world of college football, the targeting rule has become a significant entity.

Tonight’s big SEC West clash between Arkansas and Texas A&M is a perfect example. During the run of play, an errant Trevor Knight pass intended for WR Speedy Noil was broken up┬ánear the sidelines.

As they play completely concluded, Arkansas defender De’Andre Coley ran by very late and smashed Noil right on the side of the helmet. It resulted in a targeting penalty — and thus an ejection for the defensive back.

With the intensity between these two teams already ramping up, it remains to be seen what this hit may do for the collective psyche of both teams.
