What Kirby Smart said about Arkansas' shocking upset over Mississippi State
The University of Georgia thumped Auburn Saturday night in the Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry 27-6.
UGA took care of business in every facet against Gus Malzahn and the Tigers, and it really improved from a week ago at Arkansas. The Bulldogs beat the Hogs 37-10 in Week 1; however, UGA struggled in the first half until Stetson Bennett took over for D’Wan Mathis.
Well, Arkansas pulled a shocking upset win over No. 16 Mississippi State Saturday night 21-14, and the Hogs won their first SEC game since 2017 and snapped their 20-game conference losing skid.
Smart was continually asked after the game about his team’s execution being much better this week versus last week, and he commented on the Hogs win.
“Hey, maybe Arkansas is better than people think,” Smart said, via YouTube. “Somebody told me they won tonight. So, maybe they’re pretty good, and maybe that has something to do with it.”
Arkansas isn’t as bad as most thought this year, and much progress has been made in 2 weeks under Sam Pittman at Arkansas. Barry Odom’s defense is playing at a really high level.
