Arkansas came up short of an upset against LSU Saturday night after the Tigers put together a game-winning drive that ended with a field goal.

Despite the loss, playing a top-SEC team close is encouraging for the Razorbacks and they proved they are capable of hanging with the best this season.

LSU quarterback put on a veteran performance against Arkansas, igniting the Tigers offense in the second half. Arkansas head coach Sam Pittman had high praise for the senior quarterback after the game. He also liked the way his offense kept Arkansas in the game.

“Give credit to LSU, Daniels played a great game,” Pittman said in a postgame press conference. “Once he got on, he was on. But we couldn’t stop him from the end of the first half forward. We tried several difference coverages. I was proud of the offense for their resiliency.”

Pittman was anticipating a highly-defensive matchup, which he got in the first half, but Daniels started connecting with his receivers and making Arkansas pay in the second half.

“I felt like it was going to be a defensive game, I thought we could change coverages and get pressure which we did early,” Pittman said. “He (Jayden Daniels) did need to be on because we left them wide open.”

As Daniels started getting hot, Arkansas quarterback KJ Jefferson also started connecting with his receivers, which kept Arkansas in the game late. Pittman recognized the way both quarterbacks turned things around in the second half.

“I thought both of them played better as the game went on,” Pittman said.
