Auburn will continue to look to stockpile talent in the 2017 cycle and appears to be on its way to doing so.

With that, here are five 2017s that every Tigers fan should know.

1. Markail Benton, LB, Phenix City (Ala.) Central

Benton is one of the top overall prospects in the country — he’s ranked as the No. 6 outside linebacker nationally per 247Sports Composite rankings — and is physical and fast, which is what we’ve grown accustomed to seeing from Auburn’s linebackers over the years. An in-state target, Benton is extremely high on the Tigers and it would be a surprise if Auburn did not end up with him.

2. Tray Bishop, ATH, Dawson (Ga.) Terrell County

The 6-foot-3, 193-pound Dawson is a versatile talent that most believe is leaning to the Tigers. He is ranked as the No. 8 athlete nationally per 247Sports Composite rankings and could play a number of positions.

3. Trey Sermon, RB, Marietta (Ga.) Sprayberry

Sermon is a 6-foot-1, 206-pound running back that fits like a glove in Auburn’s power running game. He’s also from Cobb County in the Metro Atlanta area, a place where the Tigers traditionally have great success recruiting. Auburn will have to battle it out with Ohio State, Georgia and others for the services of the nation’s No. 10 running back prospect, but they have an excellent shot.

4. Ryan Johnson, DE, Mobile (Ala.) St. Pauls

Auburn appears to be the early team to beat for the 6-foot-4, 250-pound Johnson and you add prospects like him to the talent the Tigers landed in the 2016 class and the DNA of the Auburn defensive line suddenly goes from thin and lacking to potentially dominant. Johnson is the nation’s fifth-ranked strong-side defensive end in the 2017 cycle and the No. 8 overall prospect in the state of Alabama per 247Sports Composite rankings.

5. MJ Webb, DE, Madison (Ga.) Morgan County

There has been some recent trending for Auburn here. The 6-foot-3, 265-pound Webb is one of the top defensive line prospects in the country (No. 6 strong-side defensive end per 247Sports Composite rankings for 2017) and is another Peach State prospect that the Tigers figure to go head-to-head against in-state Georgia for.
