Ankle breaker: Former Auburn RHP Casey Mize embarrasses Twins hitter with nasty splitter
By Adam Spencer

Former Auburn RHP Casey Mize was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2018 MLB Draft, going to the Detroit Tigers.
Now, he has quickly risen through the Tigers’ minor league system and is on the Major League roster for the 2020 season.
And, thus far, he’s pitching well. He features a nasty splitter that can make hitters look foolish. You associate the term “ankle-breaker” with a basketball crossover dribble, but it can also apply to Mize’s splitter. Just ask this Minnesota Twins batter from Sunday’s game:

Mize is still looking for his first MLB victory, but with the stuff he’s showcased in his first 2 starts (and thus far in his third start), he’ll likely not have to wait long for that first win.
Currently, the Twins and Tigers are tied at 1 entering the third inning.
