The crane kick has become a hot-button issue for many teams playing Alabama, and it turns out, it’s not just football.
Auburn men’s basketball knocked off Alabama 81-77 on Tuesday night to improve to 15-1 on the season, while the Crimson Tide slipped to 11-5. To celebrate, Auburn players mimicked the crane kick Karate Kid pose on the court, Alabama’s signature celebration.
The Tigers could do it after Allen Flanigan iced the game with 4 straight free throws in the final minute, and Jabari Smith added a season-high 25 points.
“The football team did it to us. We were all there in the end zone (in the Iron Bowl). … So we had to steal their move.”
This was a big win for Auburn to win in Tuscaloosa coming off a jump in the AP Top 25 poll, when the Tigers moved up 5 spots to No. 4. Previously, Auburn lost 10 of their last 12 at Alabama. The decision also snapped Alabama’s 17-game winning streak at Coleman Coliseum.
