Auburn is going back to quarterback Payton Thorne as the Tigers look to make a second-half comeback against Arkansas.

Hank Brown had a rough first half against the Razorbacks. He threw 3 interceptions in the half, leading to coach Hugh Freeze deciding to make a change at the break. Auburn turned back to Thorne — its starter to begin the year — to start the second half.

Brown was making just his second start of his career and his first against an SEC opponent. He took over the starting job following Thorne’s poor performance against Cal earlier this month.

It appears Auburn has little confidence in either of its quarterbacks at the moment. The Tigers entered this week ranked 50th nationally in passing success rate, although a lot of their production came in wins over Alabama A&M and New Mexico.

Despite his struggles in the first half, this likely won’t be the last Auburn fans see of Brown in the immediate future. A former 3-star prospect, Brown has earned high praise from around the program this offseason. He’s a redshirt freshman and has quickly climbed up the QB depth chart at Auburn. Brown also had a strong first start last week against New Mexico.

Auburn is 20-12-1 all-time against the Razorbacks.
