Auburn football still can’t get back on the practice field. The Tigers shared Saturday that a scheduled scrimmage and Gus Malzahn’s planned media opportunity have been canceled.
On Thursday, it was reported that Auburn had to cancel Wednesday and Thursday’s scheduled practices due to COVID-19 cases. On Thursday and Friday, numerous SEC teams boycotted/canceled practices to protest social injustices. Auburn’s announcement did not detail the reason for Saturday’s cancelation.
With Sunday and Monday as already planned off days, Auburn has practiced just once (Tuesday) in the last 7 days since last week’s Saturday scrimmage. Teams are currently allowed up to 20 hours of on-field practice per week. Teams are allowed to get in 25 total practices before their first game with a mandatory 2 days off per week.
Gus Malzahn will next meet with the media on Sunday at 8 p.m. CT. He had been scheduled to address the press at 1 p.m. Saturday.
