Auburn coaches furious with Jeremy Johnson, passing game
Auburn “Heisman hopeful” Jeremy Johnson may not get many more opportunities before he’s pulled in favor of Sean White.
LSU leads Auburn, 24-0, at halftime in Baton Rouge, and the season quickly is entering crisis mode for the visitors.
Asked by sideline reporter Allie LaForce whether the Tigers will stick with Johnson after halftime, the coach deferred.
“Right now our passing game is god-awful,” coach Gus Malzahn said.

Apparently, Malzahn isn’t the only coach upset at Johnson and the passing game.
Allie LaForce: Rhett Lashlee took glove off Jeremy Johnson's hand, threw it behind bench & told him he doesn't need a glove, it's mental.

Johnson is 6 of 12 for 36 yards and an interception. He’s mostly thrown screen passes to the likes of Kerryon Johnson, and nearly threw another pick just before halftime. He’s now thrown six interceptions in less than three games.
I don’t understand. I was assured that he was even better than Marshall and would be a legitimate Heisman candidate this year. I was assured of this.
Come on now, cut SDS some slack. They messed up bad backing Auburn to be contenders and they know it.
He did make a couple good plays in the 2nd half. However it’s time to work White into the offense and let him play some at least. See what he can do at least, go with 2 QBs until one starts playing well.
I think this season is exposing Malzahn and his staff.
Woa, bulldogbuck, it’s still early in the season. This can be easily resolved by saying JJ was overly hyped. I highly doubt its the staff. Those guys won it all in 2010 (without gene chizik), inherited garbage in 2013 and turned it into a national championship contender in one season, and competed last year in the west. There is no way you can pin this on the staff.
Woa, alvie93, it’s not 2013 and Auburn dropped that horseshoe and Cam Newton is not currently an AU qb, so it must not be 2010. Talk about the 2013 team all you want, but they were literally about 6 plays from being .500. It is a coach’s job to get good players, develop them and win games. He does that by picking a good staff. So, yeah, it is early in the season and yeah, it is the staff, starting with Malzahn. He has never impressed me, seems to do more with luck than actual play calling, and JJ was not the only aspect of AU to be overly hyped, so throw that out the window. It’s not JJ’s fault Fournette put up over 200 yards. I would have to say the ONLY place to pin it is on the staff (again, starting with Malzahn).
Spot on. Not only do these auburn teams rely a LOT on dumb luck, players dismissed from other SEC teams and illegal plays that everyone except the refs notice, but that staff(and for the most part the one under Chizik) does not develop players well. They are good recruiters, that’s all.
Is anyone unhappy with the brilliant defense Muschamp was going to bring to Auburn? His defense was going to result in a national champion as I recall.
Considering CWM played 10 True Frosh in the 2-deep, theyre fortunate not to have given up 70, Saturday. NCs dont come overnight, and in some teams’ case, for over 34 years.
