Auburn picked up its latest commitment from an in-state athlete, Ja’Kobi Albert, who had a reported 22 offers. Albert made the announcement on his birthday.

The Tigers continued the momentum they’ve built in the last month with a seventh commitment now in Albert.

Albert is from Fairfield, Alabama (Fairfield Preparatory School), and is rated the No. 23 athlete in the Class of 2022, and the No. 14 player in the state of Alabama, according to the 247Sports Composite. Albert previously put Maryland and Michigan in his final three schools next to Auburn.

At 6-foot and 175 pounds, Albert played both wide receiver and defensive back at the Fairfield Preparatory School last season.

Albert visited Auburn in June, and was recruited by Derek Mason and Cornelius Williams.

“Just being able to sit one-on-one with (defensive coordinator Derek Mason),” Albert said, per Auburn Undercover. “That was pretty big to me. Him and Coach (Bryan) Harsin. Coach Mason — he and the others said that I need to keep working. They told me to not get complacent, just to stay level-headed and to make sure I had a good mentality. Coach Harsin said he enjoyed having me and said he looked forward to the future.”
