The UCF Knights have been doing plenty of talking ahead of the New Year’s Day Peach Bowl matchup against Auburn.

At different times, players have said Auburn isn’t ready for UCF’s speed and also that the Tigers’ defense has plenty of holes the Knights plan to exploit.

For their part, the Tigers have remained quiet, but on Friday, S Tray Matthews said the players have definitely heard the trash talk coming from the Knights (via 247Sports):

“If some guys were asleep, weren’t focused, that woke everybody up,” Matthews said.

LB Deshaun Davis added that the Tigers try not to take the talk too seriously, adding that you won’t be hearing any bulletin-board material coming from Auburn’s side:

“When you see stuff like that it does kind of make you laugh,” Davis said. “It kinds of gets you a little fired up. A little fuel to the fire. We aren’t the type of team that’s going to throw words or stuff like that, of course you want to. It’s not who we are.”

The Peach Bowl kicks off at 12:30 p.m. Eastern time on New Year’s Day and can be seen on ESPN. Auburn’s defense will try to make a statement early in the game to keep the Knights quiet.
