Auburn football added a commitment from former Jackson State wide receiver Shane Hooks Sunday afternoon, yet another addition to the Tigers’ incoming transfer WR class.

Shane Hooks is the player in question. Hooks, who stands at 6-4, 205 pounds, was Jackson State’s top receiver last season, totaling 64 receptions for 748 yards and 10 touchdowns. He could be an immediate starter for Hugh Freeze and company.

Hooks joins fellow incoming transfer WRs Jyaire Shorter, Nick Mardner and Caleb Burton.

A concerned Twitter user tagged Freeze following the commitment and told him to “Take a break.” His response?

Yeah, that check out.

Auburn has been on a tear in the transfer portal lately, thanks to Freeze. The Tigers rank No. 2 behind only Colorado (and nobody is catching the Buffaloes) on 247Sports’ team transfer ranking metric.

Auburn has added a total of 20 transfers in the 2023 cycle.
