Auburn hires former OC Al Borges as an offensive analyst
Gus Malzahn is bringing a former Auburn offensive coordinator back to the Plains.
An Auburn spokesperson confirmed a report by Auburn Undercover that Al Borges is joining the Tigers staff as an offensive analyst to work under first-year offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey. ESPN’s Chris Low was the first to report the news.
Al Borges is returning to Auburn. @CoachGusMalzahn told me today that Borges will work under Chip Lindsey as an offensive analyst.

Borges was the offensive coordinator under former coach Tommy Tuberville from 2004-2007. That brief tenure started high, as AU went 14-0 in 2004, but ended on a lower note, as Auburn struggled to score points during the 2007 season and Borges resigned.
Since his time at Auburn, Borges has been the offensive coordinator at San Diego State (2009-10), Michigan (2011-13) and San Jose State (2015-16). It’s a season of switching things up for Malzahn, who will have Lindsey as his offensive coordinator this fall, replacing the departed Rhett Lashlee, who coached alongside Malzahn at Arkansas State and Auburn from 2011-16.
