Auburn has confirmed that a recent graduate of the university is one of the lives tragically lost in the recent terror attack in New Orleans.
In the late-night/early-morning hours of New Year’s Day, an attack rocked the Bourbon Street crowd ringing in the arrival of 2025. At least 14 deaths have been confirmed with many others injured, and Auburn president Christopher B. Roberts confirmed a graduate from Auburn’s Class of 2023 was one of the victims.
Roberts identified that victim as Drew Dauphin:
On behalf of Auburn University, I send my sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of 2023 graduate Drew Dauphin who was taken from us in the New Orleans terror attack. Words cannot convey the sorrow the Auburn Family feels for Drew’s family and friends during this unimaginably difficult time. Our thoughts are with the Dauphin family and the families of all the victims of this senseless tragedy.
So far, the FBI has announced it has not found any links to other recent attacks or any other suspects believed to be involved in the attack. The mayor of New Orleans has announced that Bourbon Street will reopen on Thursday ahead of the new kickoff time for the Sugar Bowl between Georgia and Notre Dame.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Auburn community and the Dauphin family.
