The Auburn Tigers have rising sophomore Bo Nix as their starting quarterback heading into 2020, with Cord Sandberg or Howard transfer Caylin Newton as the presumed backup.

Now, though, there could be an even bigger competition for the No. 2 spot, as the Tigers landed an experienced graduate transfer on Wednesday.

As you can see below, former Bowling Green QB Grant Loy announced via Twitter that he’d be heading to Auburn to finish off his career:

As a graduate transfer, Loy will be eligible right away. He’ll be a redshirt senior in 2020.

Last year, Loy appeared in 12 games for Bowling Green. He threw for 1,137 yards, 6 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. He added 427 yards and 4 scores as a rusher.
