Auburn has been listed as a transfer candidate for former Fresno State linebacker Phoenix Jackson, one of the top linebackers expected to hit the portal when it officially opens on December 9.
Jackson, a junior from Modesto, California, will choose between the Tigers, SMU, Indiana and Nebraska.
Fresno State linebacker Phoenix Jackson has his top four schools, his agents @FCProspects_ & @callmeagentdwil tell @On3sports.
Jackson had 49 tackles, 4 sacks and 2 INTs this year and the 3rd-highest PFF coverage grade nationally among LBs. https://t.co/Yy9DzgngBf pic.twitter.com/DTBEnnAnxU

This would be a massive addition if Hugh Freeze was able to earn a pledge from Jackson. The junior, as you can see above, was excellent this past season for the Bulldogs, totaling 49 tackles, 4 sacks and 2 interceptions. Jackson also posted 4 pass deflections and 1 forced fumble. Finally, one of his interceptions was returned for a touchdown against Hawaii in early November.
A few days ago Jackson set an official visit to Auburn for December 13th and 14th. It’s worth noting, however, that Jackson also scheduled visits to Georgia Tech and Oklahoma State, despite neither cracking his top 4 Saturday.
Auburn will have to replace production from Austin Keys, Eugene Asante and Dorian Mausi, so Jackson would certainly have a place on the field if he were to transfer to The Plains. For now, we’ll just have to wait and see how it plays out.
