Auburn is working the transfer portal this offseason, and Hugh Freeze’s staff picked up a commitment from a veteran wide receiver Sunday evening.

According to Pete Nakos with One3 Sports, former Georgia State wide receiver Robert Lewis has committed to Auburn. He took an official visit to the Tigers this weekend and originally planned to visit Cincinnati next weekend.

Instead, he’s committed to Freeze’s program for 2024:

“I feel like Auburn is the right fit for me because of the scheme that they run could fit with me,” Lewis said per On3. “While talking about football with Coach Davis, we were really on the same page about a lot of things regarding my tape. We were both saying the same thing but in different verbiage.”

During the 2023 season, Lewis set career-high marks with 70 catches for 877 yards and 7 touchdowns. From 2022-23, Lewis recorded 92 catches for 1,256 yards and 13 touchdowns while also returning kicks in 2023.

We’ll see how Lewis performs in his jump to the SEC from his Sun Belt playing days, but he could turn into a contributor for the Tigers.
