Gus Malzahn’s staff just landed a commitment from an experienced standout tight end.
Oklahoma transfer Grant Calcaterra announced his commitment to Auburn on Wednesday via his Twitter account.
“A year ago, I would’ve never pictured my life the way is it now,” Calcatettera tweeted. “I don’t believe in bad situations, just opportunities for growth. I’m more than grateful for this past year, but even more excited for my future challenges. Thanks again Sooner Nation. #WarEagle”
Calcaterra was an All-Big-12 honorable mention in 2017 and All-Big-12 First-Team selection in 2018. As one of Kyler Murray’s top targets, played in all 14 games of the 2018 campaign, recording 26 receptions for 396 yards (15.2 per catch) and 6 touchdowns.
In November 2019, Calcaterra announced his retirement from football due to his numerous concussions. During OU’s 2019 season, he played in five games, logging 5 catches for 79 yards.
On Aug. 15, 2020, however, Calcaterra announced he was returning to football and entering the transfer portal.
