Auburn president announces that 'working group' will explore options for new football facility
The Auburn Tigers have wanted a new football facility for a few years now, and it seems as if that may finally become a reality.
On Wednesday afternoon, Auburn president Steven Leath announced via Twitter that a working group would begin exploring the possibility of a new facility.
As you can see in the series of tweets below, Leath said the group will be led by Auburn COO Ron Burgess and consist of other important people on campus:
A working group will immediately begin exploring options for a new @AuburnFootball facility. As @CoachGusMalzahn said, it will help us compete for championships.

.@AuburnU COO Ron Burgess will chair. The working group includes Trustee Mike DeMaioribus, TUF board member Earlon McWhorter and senior leadership from #Athletics and across campus. They will seek input from the #AuburnFamily and our governance boards.

We're asking the working group to provide options and recommendations to Athletics, Trustees and senior leadership by early fall. Exciting times for @AuburnFootball! #WarEagle

It seems like it’s still early in the process, but this is something that probably needs to be done for the Tigers to stay competitive.
Athletes are drawn to schools with top facilities, so if Auburn can keep pace with other big programs, it will help with recruiting.
