QB Jarrett Stidham will be a part of Auburn’s A-Day Saturday, but he won’t play in the scrimmage.
Gus Malzahn announced the news when he met with the media Thursday. Stidham will practice in the 7-on-7 portion prior to the scrimmage as he continues recovering from January surgery on his non-throwing shoulder.
“It’s been very good, and just his command when he’s out there feels different, which it should,” Malzahn said Thursday. “He’s a veteran guy. He’s like a coach on the field. Last year he was still learning the offense and learning Chip (Lindsey), and Chip was learning him. It just feels different, and he’s got a very good grip on our offense and what we need to accomplish in the summer too.”
Rising sophomore Malik Willis and early enrollee freshman Joey Gatewood will be the primary QBs, and both will gain valuable experience in Stidham’s absence.
