Auburn QB John Franklin III didn’t play much in the Tigers’ 30-12 Iron Bowl loss to rival Alabama, but he was the most effective quarterback for his team.

He completed two of four passes for 85 yards and ran three times for 14 yards. However, neither he nor his teammates could do much against an outstanding Alabama defense.

Franklin continues to face questions about his throwing ability and he addressed his frustration with those questions after the loss.

Franklin told the Ledger-Enquirer that he just tries to do what the coaches tell him to do:

“I don’t know where everybody get this thing that I can’t throw in the first place,” Franklin said. “I just run what’s called. I could always throw. It’s just getting my opportunities; that’s really it. I don’t know where it came from or where it started.”

If Franklin sticks around Auburn (he won’t rule out leaving as a graduate transfer), coach Gus Malzahn needs to figure out how to use the talented player more than he has in 2016.
