Auburn QB reportedly enters NCAA transfer portal
The Auburn Tigers were a bit short on scholarship quarterbacks this season after Joey Gatewood decided to transfer.
Now, they’ll be down another guy in the QB room, as a walk-on quarterback who rose to No. 3 on the depth chart in 2019 has entered the transfer portal.
Per AL.com’s Matt Zenitz, Wil Appleton will explore his transfer options this offseason:
Auburn walk-on QB Wil Appleton has put his name into the transfer portal as a graduate transfer.

Appleton was unlikely to remain at No. 3 on the depth chart behind Bo Nix and Cord Sandberg, so it makes sense that he’d want to go somewhere to get some playing time.
Appleton hasn’t seen any action the last 2 seasons with the Tigers. Where he ends up next remains to be seen.
