Auburn will open the 2023-24 hoops season on the road.

The Tigers announced on Thursday they will face off against the Baylor Bears on Tuesday, Nov. 7, at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. It’ll be Auburn’s first time playing at the venue and Baylor’s second consecutive year making the trek to South Dakota.

“What a great opportunity to play a perennial Top 10 program with a great coach like Scott Drew,” coach Bruce Pearl said in a release. “Our guys came to Auburn and the SEC, to play against the very best. We will get to see right away where we are as a team. A marquee matchup like this, playing a guaranteed Quad 1 opponent, will help us build our potential tournament resume and get us prepared for league play.”

Auburn is coming off a 21-13 season that ended in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Forward Johni Broome, an All-SEC Second Team performer last season, returns to lead the squad after putting up 14.2 points and 8.4 rebounds a game.

Baylor went 23-11 last season and advanced to the second round of The Big Dance as well. The Bears beat Gonzaga 64-63 at the Sanford Pentagon last season.

This will be the eighth all-time meeting between the 2 sides. Baylor leads the all-time series 5-2, with the last entry coming in 2011 in Waco.

The Sanford Pentagon has become a destination venue of sorts for one-off non-conference matchups early in the season. This year, Auburn’s matchup with Baylor will be the first of 3 games played at the venue. Nebraska will take on Oregon State on Nov. 18 and Oregon will face Syracuse on Dec. 17.
