You didn’t need to give Mississippi State fans anymore reason to clang their cowbells on Saturday afternoon.
Then the game happened.
After forcing a three-and-out on the opening drive, a Nick Marshall first down pass was tipped and intercepted by Mississippi State’s Jay Hughes. On the ensuing drive, Dak Prescott found De’Runnya Wilson for a 34-yard touchdown strike to give the Bulldogs a 7-0 lead.
Following a touchback, Marshall found Duke Williams on a crossing pattern who was then hit and fumbled, giving the Bulldogs the ball deep in Auburn territory. On State’s next drive, Josh Robinson found the end zone from 1-yard out to give Mississippi State a 14-0 lead just three and a half minutes into the game.
