Auburn won Saturday night but the Tigers were a play or two away from disaster.

In the end, it doesn’t matter how you win in the SEC as long as you do it and that’s what the Tigers did by holding off Ole Miss 20-14 on The Plains.

For much of the game, Gus Malzahn’s team was in complete control but a late Ole Miss touchdown made the contest a single-digit affair with just minutes remaining and the Rebels got one final opportunity to steal a win on the road.

Unfortunately for Ole Miss fans, the team came up just short as they have done several times this weekend.

The game came down to a fourth down with 17 seconds remaining. Instead of giving his team a chance to win, true freshman quarterback John Rhys Plumlee threw an interception in a wild play.
