Auburn is adding to its offensive staff with an analyst who has experience coaching in the SEC and Pac-12.

Joe Bernardi, who has previously coached at Tennessee, Oregon and San Jose State, is being hired at Auburn as an offensive analyst working with the offensive line, sources told FootballScoop.

A former Fresno State player who broke into coaching at the University of Tennessee in 2011-12 and then spent three seasons on the Oregon Ducks’ staff, Bernardi returned to his alma mater in 2016 to work with the Bulldogs’ tight ends.

Bernardi played at Fresno State and began coaching at Tennessee in 2011-12 and then spent 3 seasons on the Oregon Ducks’ staff. He returned to his alma mater in 2016 to work with the Bulldogs’ tight ends. Bernardi then spent multiple seasons at San Jose State as the Spartans’ offensive line coach, and also became running game coordinator.

Most recently, Bernardi worked at the Immanuel School (California) as the private, Christian-based school’s athletics director in early 2021.

It’s the second such hire for Bryan Harsin, who reportedly hired former Kentucky QB Mark Hartline in recent days as an analyst. Hartline had been the offensive coordinator at Division II program Ohio Dominican.
