Auburn's leading tackler makes decision on NFL future
With Montravius Adams and Carl Lawson headed for the NFL, Auburn’s defense will lose a ton in the way of production.
Safety Tray Matthews also had a decision to make. The junior safety is eligible to enter the 2017 NFL Draft. He led the Tigers in tackles (76) this season, and was one of the most talented defenders on the entire team.
Taking to Twitter, he announced his decision:
Excited to play one more year and my last year here at Auburn . This WILL be an epic year 🙏🏾📽😬

The verdict is massive for Gus Malzahn’s team. Matthews — along with linebackers Tre’ Williams and Deshaun Davis, and defensive end Marlon Davidson — will lead the defense in 2017.
Sucks for Auburn! Trigga sucks.
Hahaha, when is the last time Georgia won anything? You kids suck. So does the whole SEC least!
Yet were 14-6 against the west since 2007 in regular season play. Not to shabby, and were 11-6 against Auburn since 2000, so stop living off of Bama’s glory.
How many SEC titles does Thuga have in that time? Auburn’s got 2, along with a NC.That doesnt sound like living off of anyone’s glory.Just sounds like Thuga’s been irrelevant for over a decade…
auphinphan,
UGA should have more titles. You are right about that. But if UGA is so bad why has Auburn only beaten UGA twice in the last decade? That’s an ugly statistic that’s hard to sweep under the rug. Especially for a rivalry. The Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry is in danger of not being considered a real rivalry anymore. You have to win a bit more than that for it to be considered a rivalry. Remember that.
With his on and off-field IQ, don’t think there was much of a decision to be made. Kid is a bum and needs to worry more about staying out of jail and not tipping Hail Marys to opposing players
