Bo Nix opens up after losing to Alabama: 'It's an awful feeling'
The Auburn Tigers may have pulled off a win at Jordan-Hare Stadium against Alabama last season, but extending the winning streak to 2 in a row wasn’t in the cards on Saturday night in Tuscaloosa.
The Crimson Tide rolled to a big 42-13 victory over their Iron Bowl rivals, even without coach Nick Saban, who was in quarantine due to a positive COVID-19 test.
Auburn sophomore QB Bo Nix experienced his first loss to the Tide, and he said it didn’t feel great, but he’s going to pick himself up and try to learn from the loss:
Auburn’s Bo Nix after losing to Alabama
"It's an awful feeling, to be honest with you. I've never really been in this situation before. It's not going to keep me down. I'm going to keep on battling, keep on playing, and play the next play, and get our guys back for next week.” pic.twitter.com/8xMIetk4ei

Nix finished the game with 227 passing yards, but he had 0 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. He did add a touchdown as a runner.
There’s no rest for Auburn, as No. 5 Texas A&M comes to town next Saturday. Can Nix and the Tigers regroup and pull off an upset?
An awful feeling? I gotta disagree with you. I was glad to see Bama take control early, especially in the third quarter, and take the refs out of the game. Best to limit their opportunities to hand Auburn a call. I especially enjoyed the camera shot of Malzahn chewing on the crew with just seconds left. “Where the hell were you guys today”?…”Coach, you gotta keep it close enough to do any good…but we still good right”?
Bo Nix looks like a QB that has all the tangible qualities: size/arm/runs well…but he just has not been properly coached…and that falls on Gus for not mentoring him or hiring a QB coach who could.
Lol..AFAN that’s your expert analysis of Bo Nix who are you to question. Put Mac Jones in that game for Auburn and it would have been worse what’s your expert analysis of that?
LOL. Nix came in as a 5* with an ex-college QB as his coach. Jones was a 3*. Shouldn’t the 5* be better or at least look better? It could also be stated that Nix isn’t much better this year than last. I have never seen a QB spike a ball backwards like that coached up 5*. Your expert opinion is useless.
Auburn can’t develop QBs… They haven’t developed anyone at the QB position since Gus has been coach….
Gus likes “ready made” QB’s.
Gus has never clamed to be a QB coach. Mac Jones was at Bama for 4 years before he saw the field and has had the benefit of playing behind 5* senior OL and throwing to 5* WRs. If you don’t think that makes a HUGE difference, you can’t be helped.
Stidham was a “ready made” QB transfer from Baylor. He was at Auburn for two years. How do you explain his regression from year one to two?
Bo is another Jeremy Johnson,,,all the physical tools but doesn’t have any command of the game itself. Slinging a ball up for grabs while flailing backwards is just plain stupid (he does this at least once per game). Each week you can see him panic, bail to soon, over or under throw while off balance. He rarely sets his feet and has extremely poor throwing motion. He is not and never will be a “Championship” QB in Division 1. In HS he was physically superior to the other players,,,in the SEC he is less than average. So he’ll play out his career and be done with most likely a 50-50 record.
Don’t get me started on coaching? How many “none” yard passes do you need to throw before you try something else? And what kind of idiot has a 3rd (or 4th) Down and four thinks completing a 2-3 yard pass is smart? You have to snap it, block it, throw and catch it but you are tackled short why not throw it four yards if you need four yards? Never throw short of the sticks (on 3rd or 4th) – it doesn’t pay (almost all of the time)…you wann try that crap on 1st or 2nd down go ahead.
I’m not sure what exact play your talking about but it’s fairly common to throw to a receiver short of the sticks and let them run to the 1st down line (even on 3rd or 4th down). Maybe he was under pressure and had to get rid of it. Your team was not going to beat Bama this year, period. Try to upset A&M this week (something my team fumbled away) and good luck.
