John Calipari caught the ire of Mark Stoops when he declared Kentucky a basketball school in the same vein that Alabama and Georgia are considered football schools.

While the Wildcats men’s basketball team has enjoyed sustained success throughout much of its history, the football program under Stoops has seen an upward trend, with the team finishing 2021 with a 10-3 record, a Citrus Bowl win over Iowa and a top 20 ranking. Stoops called Calipari out on Twitter, making sure to note that his group has won 4 straight times in the postseason while the men’s basketball team suffered a stunning loss to Cinderella Final Four participant St. Peter’s in the NCAA Tournament in March after missing the tournament altogether in 2021.

Auburn’s Bryan Harsin was certainly keeping an eye on the feud from the Plains in Alabama, and as you can see below, he trolled Kentucky with a photo of him and Tigers men’s basketball coach Bruce Pearl:

Pearl has touted Auburn as an “everything school” — while the football program has traditionally been the primary sport, Pearl has worked wonders with the men’s basketball team, leading them to a first No. 1 ranking in program history in January and taking them to their first Final Four in 2019.

Perhaps Stoops and Calipari should be taking notes on what’s happening down in Alabama.
