The annual SEC meetings in Destin, Florida ended with some big news: the SEC has lifted its ban on alcohol sales inside the stadium to fans in general seating areas. Many fans are now asking if they’ll be able to purchase an alcoholic beverage inside the stadium on a Saturday this fall. While it will be coming to some SEC stadiums, Auburn fans will likely have to wait at least another year before purchasing a cold beer or glass of wine inside Jordan-Hare Stadium.

School president Steven Leath told reporters he doesn’t expect any changes for the 2019 season.

“I would expect no changes this season, and there will be a thoughtful process before we make any decisions,” Leath told Brandon Marcello of 247Sports. “Sometime in the future (we’ll discuss it), and it would have to be an inclusive process where we engage the board (of trustees), fans, stakeholders.” He also gave a similar statement to AL.com.

On-campus AU sporting events are not completely dry, however. Baseball fans can enjoy alcoholic beverages in a designated area at Plainsman Park. In October, Auburn’s city council also approved alcohol licenses for other athletic facilities, including Auburn Arena, Jane B. Moore Field and the Auburn Athletics Complex.

No changes for now seems to be a shared stance for the state of Alabama’s SEC programs.
