Former Auburn running backs coach and interim head coach Cadillac Williams will be staying on the Auburn sidelines moving forward. He reportedly will be serving as an associate head coach for the Tigers under Hugh Freeze, who was officially hired Monday afternoon.

Williams had a 2-2 record at Auburn following the firing of Bryan Harsin, reviving a season where it seemed as if players could not care less about playing football. Many believed he should have stayed on as head coach for the Tigers, citing his obvious fire for the University and potential to sway recruits.

Williams tweeted this late Monday night:

This alone is a strong indication that Williams was to be staying at Auburn, but was further confirmed by AL.com Tuesday morning.

That’s a good first move by Freeze. It’s also the first of many building blocks to be placed in the coming weeks as Freeze fully assembles his coaching staff.
