Every NFL team hopes to make it through the preseason without any major injuries, but football is such a tough sport that it almost never happens.

However, it’s still never fun to see your star quarterback go flying through the air and land on his face, as was the case with Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton on Friday.

As you can see in the video below, Newton dives for a first down against the New England Patriots, but gets upended and lands on his helmet:

Newton missed some time after that scary landing, but then he returned to the game — an odd decision by the Panthers.

Newton is a former NFL MVP, so it’s not like he needs the preseason to get ready, especially after leaving the game with an injury. The Panthers should be careful with him from now until Week 1.
