Cam Newton is making headlines Sunday for his involvement in a fight at a 7-on-7 football event.

Video from a 7v7 youth football tournament in Atlanta is going viral on social media. The clip, below, shows several men getting into a physical altercation with Newton, who has long been involved in 7v7 football through his “C1N” organization.

At this time, available context is limited for the posted video. Many football fans are amused that Newton, still in football-playing shape despite having not played professionally since 2021, does not lose his headgear in all the commotion.

The posted video suggests men from Top Shelf Performance, which also had teams involved in the tournament, were fighting Newton.

Newton turns 35 in May. The Heisman Trophy winner from Auburn was the No. 1 overall draft pick in 2011. He played with the Panthers through 2019, collecting Offensive Rookie of the Year (2011) and Most Valuable Player (2015) honors in his first stint in Charlotte.

Newton spent the 2020 season with the New England Patriots. He was re-signed for 2021, but cut in preseason as the club decided to go with Mac Jones as QB1. He returned to the Panthers in November 2021, playing in 8 games, making 5 starts.
