Cam’Ron Kelly’s stay at Auburn lasted less than three months.

The Chesapeake, Va. native announced on Wednesday he plans on leaving Gus Malzahn’s program after enrolling at Auburn in early January. Kelly was a four-star prospect in the 2019 recruiting cycle, the nation’s No. 10 athlete and a top five prospect from the state of Virginia, according to 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Kelly was previously committed to Virginia Tech, he also held offers from Penn State and received interest from Clemson during his college recruitment.

The Virginia native claims he has already entered the NCAA transfer portal in order to play somewhere closer to home.

While this decision may be second-guessed by some Auburn fans, Kelly appears to hold no ill-will toward the program, school or coaching staff and cites the desire to return closer to home as he has family members dealing with undisclosed health concerns.
