Newton’s tweeted William & Mary graphic indicates he’ll be a wide receiver for the Tribe. Newton was listed as a wide receiver on Auburn’s roster after playing quarterback for London at Howard.
In 2018, Newton threw for 2,629 yards and 22 touchdowns while rushing for 504 yards and 4 touchdowns, earning MEAC Conference MVP honors. He announced in September 2019 he would be entering the transfer portal. Newton transferred to Auburn ahead of the 2020 season.
Newton was primarily a special teams contributor for the Tigers. This past season, Newton blocked a punt that helped Auburn defeat Georgia State. Newton’s Auburn bio shows 3 tackles and a 31-yard reception in 2021.
